    Laser-Based Oil-on-Water Detectors

    A non-contact oil warning technology works on the principle of refraction change. When a laser beam is projected onto a water surface, it reflects with a certain intensity. Oils and hydrocarbons reflect much more strongly. This allows for reliable detection of layer thicknesses as thin as 0.1 micrometers, invisible to the eye and nearly impossible for floating devices due to their measurement principle. This measurement principle represents cutting-edge technology for oil warning systems and measuring devices.
